Alchemy - The perfection of the human body and soul was thought to result from the alchemical magnum opus ("Great Work").
The term “Alchemist of Sales” is not a standard job title, but it can be interpreted as a creative and impactful way to describe a sales role. My general interpretation is based on the concepts of Alchemy and Sales:
An “Alchemist of Sales” is a sales professional who, like an alchemist, transforms ‘base’ situations into ‘gold’. In a sales context, this means turning potential leads into loyal customers, or finding opportunities in challenging market conditions. Skilled at building relationships, understanding customer needs and closing sales transactions. Creating something from nothing.
Here are some potential duties and responsibilities for this role:
· Identify and pursuing new business oppurtunites often involves radical new thinking to accomplish the impossible.
· Build and maintain relationships with clients on all levels, understanding their needs, this pain, and building a new solution based on data and empathy.
· Presents products and services to clients based on value drivers, benefits of change, and communicating the solution in a clear and concise way devoid of assumptions.
· Aggressive negotiation of contracts in a professional yet emotional postion, creating a buying in, win win situation for all parties
· Cross collaborates with teams to meld the sales process with marketing ops and production. Creating a cohesive team win environment
· Tracking sales data for vision into the future, forecasting, and building toward the long-term strategy that exceeds all expectations.
· Industry research dedication that leads to expertise in multiple disciplines creating new solutions to complex problems.
Qualifications include strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as degrees in Engineering and Business. As a successful Alchemist of Sales, I have a proven track record of achieving and exceeding targets, excellent communication and negotiation skills and an impressive drive for deep customer relationships.
If you combine these ideas with servant leadership, you get the Forge. A place to be heated, hammered, shaped, quenched and ultimately hardened into a tool of perfection.
